Suspension of  of the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011,   after an attempt to exclude Palestinian artist Larissa Sansour, whose work, Nation Estate, was deemed to be too “pro-palestinian”. Lacoste denied any wrongdoing, stating it felt the work didn’t fit the theme of the prize: “Joie de vivre” (Happiness).

Larissa Sansour's project was inspired by Palestine's attempt to gain UN recognition. The images depict a skyscraper housing the Palestinian population
