Lawrence Weiner’s The Grace of a Gesture is an exhibition organized by the Written Art Foundation, taking place on the ground floor of the Palazzo Bembo near the Rialto Bridge in Venice. As part of a Collateral Event of the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, this installation features the phrase “The Grace of a Gesture” written in ten different languages.

Ranging from English, Chinese, Arabic to Hebrew, against a blue background directly painted on the walls of the palazzo.

This work is a reminder that the city of Venice was once a flourishing trade center between Western Europe and the rest of the world, especially the Byzantine Empire and the Muslim world.
